Even though I am not looking forward to the hassle of it, this move is a cause for CELEBRATION!
Luke got his dream job at a hospital in Yucca Valley, California (near Palm Springs, which is in southern California, if you didn’t know) as a Project Manager over Construction. This is a big deal kind of job; Luke is going to be a big-wig in all the hospital’s new projects!
Getting into the owners representation of hospital construction is very difficult; the fact that Luke got the job says a lot about the kind of person he is - with his amazing work ethic and talents in this particular field, not to mention his killer good looks…oops, that last one was a wifely day-dream.
We are very blessed.
We will be moving to Yucca Valley on May 28th. Luke starts at Hi-Desert Medical Center on June 1st.
I won’t lie, I am less than thrilled about the location of the job. The good news is that this job will give Luke the experience he needs that will make it possible for us to move later on and find the same job, just with a bigger hospital (ideally, in Oregon).
I am excited to move into a house and get a couple of pets.
We are very sad to be leaving Oregon and the people we love.
I LOVED living in Portland. It's completely wonderful here.
We will miss all of our Portland friends! We hope you will visit us if you are in our part of California. Disneyland and many other attractions are in the area and we would be more than happy to be your tour guides!
We will also miss being so close to my family and Luke’s brother, Drew and his wife, Kim. We love them very much. Everything about this place makes this move the hardest one yet.
I don’t mean to be all “cranky-pants” about the whole thing. We really are happy to have been blessed with this opportunity! We feel like this is the right thing to do for our little family at this time in our lives. Heavenly Father knows what is best for us; He hasn’t led us astray yet and He never will.
Whenever I feel sad about leaving, I remember that I am going with my husband, a wonderful man who is doing all he can to support his family and I repeat this scripture to myself:
Ruth 1:16 - …for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: they people shall be my people…
Silly, maybe. But it’s sure making me feel better!
