Yummy Grilled Cheese

I read about this place called the Grilled Cheese Grill on my friend's blog.

Since I am all about food, eating and random Portlandness, we (Luke, Z, our friend Kimberly, her son Charlie and myself) braved the traffic and drove out to northeast Portland. We ate, we smiled, and I became even sadder about leaving Portland.

It was raining - what else is new? - but that was okay because we got to eat our lunch in the school bus.

An interesting mural was painted on the ceiling of the bus. I took some snapshots of some of the more interesting/not so creepy parts.

Luke got the Cheesus Burger - "The Soon-to-be-Famous Burger Behemoth. We’ve done away with the bun and replaced it with two grilled cheese sandwiches. That’s right, two of them. One on top, one on the bottom. Pickles and American cheese inside one, Grilled Onion and Colby Jack in the other. Lettuce, Tomato, Ketchup, Mustard, and 1/3lb Burger in between. You won’t need to eat again for 2 days." He said that it tasted like a cheeseburger, nothing too special. He had to order it though because it sounded so interesting.

I got the Southsider: "Artichokes, Sundried Tomato, Mushrooms and Mozzarella on Grilled Sourdough."

It was pretty good; I won't order it again just because there are so many other choices.

Kimberly got the Morton: "Meatball Marinara, Ricotta and Mozzarella on Grilled Italian Sourdough" and she loved it.

We also split a Jamie: "Marscapone, Nutella, and Grilled Banana on Grilled Cinnamon Swirl" and it was heavenly.
Since I am planning on packing up my dishes tomorrow, I am sure that we will be going back for more wonerful grilled cheese sandwiches before we leave Portland. If we don't, we are going to starve.

Random fact: Poor, sad, deprived Luke had never had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup until I made it for him when we were dating! He’s been hooked ever since. We love grilled cheese. We eat almost once a week. Of course, our grilled cheeses aren’t nearly as gourmet as the ones we had at the Grilled Cheese Grill.

This looks yummy! I'm sorry you're having to leave Portland! It's hard to move so frequently. But your family is awfully cute. :)

Wow, eating grilled cheese sandwiches on a bus!? Crazy cool, a little weird though. Sounds yummy though!
