T'was the Night(s) Before...and After Christmas

On the 20th we had our own little Christmas - Luke got me my favorite duvet cover from IKEA (no pictures at this time because you don't want to see my messy bedroom - trust me). Luke unwrapped his new screwdriver set. Z ripped the wrapping off her new air-powered ball popping/shoot up into the air toy, which is loud, fun, and perfect for her. She loves it! We took a viedo of her the first time we turned it on.

After that we packed up, forwarded the work phone to my cell, and headed to Bend so we could fly down to California out of the Redmond airport on the 21st. We had a nice family dinner when we got to Bend and Z was able to open up her new bedtime love of her life - a glow worm. Didn't you have one when you were a kid? If you didn't, you were deprived.

Our flight into Vegas was uneventful. We all got there in and then to California in one piece.

We are SO glad that we got to go to California. It was kind of a hassle to get us there and back; we appreciate the love and support we got from Luke's family in accomodating us. We love you!

We've missed our family in California a lot so it was nice to see them and have them get more aquainted with Aslynn since they haven't seen her since she was about 4 months old.

It is tradition in the Mecham household to decorate gingerbread houses a couple of days before Christmas. (My favorite part is eating the candy off of my house over the next few days! *Wink!*) Barbie's boyfriend Todd, glued the 10 houses together so that they would be ready for everyone. He had to make them out of graham crackers and I know from experience how finicky those things can be. He did a great job!

*This is Luke and I's house. The roof made from Dots, the wall made from Sweet Tarts and the walkway made from Twizzlers were my favorite parts.*
*Everyone's houses in the Christmas village.*
Another Mecham tradition is to use puff-paints and decorate your Christmas pajama shirt. You only wear these shirts Christmas morning because puff-paint isn't the most comfortable thing to sleep on Christmas eve. You decorate the shirt with things that have happened throughout the year so you can remember for years to come. Luke's shirt has puff-paint memories from 1995 peeling off of it.

*Aslynn decorating her 2009 footie pajamas. Grandma helped.*

*Her hands were covered in white paint for days afterward.*

A couple of days after Christmas we were able to take family pictures. In the big family picture, I don't think that there is even one where Z is holding still. She's a wiggle worm, for sure!

*Aslynn had a miserable cold; her nose was so red and her eyes were so watery! Poor baby!*

The rest of these pictures are just some that were taken over the course of the California Christmas break.

*She likes to climb into things and sit in them. She climbed into the pot; we put her on the stove.*

*Waking around the house with a cane. She should have been the shepard in the Nativity play we did; instead, she was the baby Jesus.*

*Hanging out with her aunt and cousin.*

*Getting pushed around in a pram by her cousin. Both were big fans of this mode of transportation.*
