Aslynn's Favorite Treat

Luke's garden is huge this year!  He's got all sorts of stuff growing: four different kinds of squash, lettuce, broccoli, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, jalapenos, beans, peas, pomegranates, kiwi, asparagus, even an apricot tree. 

I should clarify though, all of these things are trying to grow.  Some of them aren't succeeding, due to no fault of their own. 

Luke's garden is currently being attacked by rodents.  They are eating a lot of what he has been growing (aka: the watermelon, cantaloupe, most of the kiwi, the apricot tree - twice, onions, some of the squash and broccoli have all been wiped out or are now on the verge of being wiped out.)

Luke is furious! 

He's got so many traps around and in the garden, it's like a war zone.  He catches something every day. We can't figure out how the bigger pests are getting into the garden because the whole thing is a chicken wire cage (mice can squeeze through the small holes)! 

Anyway, that's the update on Luke's garden.  Hopefully we will figure out how the squirrels are getting in and fix the issue so we don't have the keep the traps set.

On a happier note, the peas aren't getting eaten completely.  Luke is able to harvest a few every couple of days. 

Aslynn LOVES peas!  They are her favorite treat.  She bounces up and down as we wash the peas and giggles like a crazy person.

She was chowing down when I took these pictures.  First she pops the pod open and eats all the peas, then she eats the pods.  She doesn't even want ranch to dip them in; she likes them plain.
